HUBLI: The South Western Railway Promotee Officers Association (SWRPOA) hs said that although the association is pressing for the constitution of Sixth Pay Commission and other demands, it will not take part in the strike called on March 1. Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, Gabriel Anthony Pillai, General Secretary and A. Laxman Rao, President, SWRPOA said the association, being a management association, will follow other ways to express protest. They clarified that although they will not strike work, they will give moral support to the Group C and D employees taking part in the agitation. Mr. Pillai said that among the 14,000 officers in the Indian Railways, 70 per cent are rank promotees. Mr. Pillai complained that although there is no difference in the responsibilities shouldered by promotee officers and others, there is discrimination with regard to pay scale and promotions.
