Demolition condemned

Kolkata: The National Commission for Minorities has demanded that the West Bengal Government inquire into the demolition of a church at Kalikapur near here on Sunday. The manner the church was demolished was wrong, V. V. Augustine, a member of the Commission, said here on Thursday.

The church, an adjoining crèche and a ladies hostel of the Christ Mission Ashram were pulled down by the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority [KMDA] to make way for a connector to the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass on the eastern flank of the city.
