Protest against exhibition of Husain's works

RAICHUR: Members of the district unit of the Sanatana Samsthe took out a procession here on Wednesday in protest against an exhibition of the "controversial" paintings of M.F. Husain.

Nearly 50 activists led by Raghothama Rao, President of the district unit of Hindu Rakshana Samithi, staged a dharna at the Deputy Commissioner's office.

They submitted a memorandum to the Head Quarter Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner, Mohammed Mohamood.

They urged the President to confiscate Mr. Husain's "controversial" paintings and destroy them because they hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

They also demanded that Mr. Husain be asked to apologise and give a written assurance that he will not make such mistakes again.
