ID cards to have security hologram

Ravi Reddy

All pass-holders should have ID cards specially designed by IT cell

HYDERABAD: Mere entry passes issued by the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) will not allow the delegates to have direct access to the three-day 82nd plenary session of the party beginning here on January 21.

Identity cards, specially designed and made by the Information Technology cell of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), will be equally important for the delegates and mediapersons to gain entry into the Gachibowli stadium, re-christened Rajiv Nagar for the mega event. All passes must be accompanied by ID cards to ensure unhindered access.

Unique numbers

The ID cards are foolproof. Each one carries a unique ID number along with a security hologram issued by the Cyberabad police. More than the AICC pass, the security personnel and others will check the ID card before permitting delegates inside.

The IT cell is working overtime to prepare the cards by Friday. So far 12,000 ID cards had been prepared for the AICC, Congress Working Committee and PCC delegates. At least 3,000 more cards will be ready by tomorrow to meet the last minute rush.

Different coloured cards

After Andhra Pradesh (1,500), the highest number of 1,194 ID cards prepared are for delegates from Uttar Pradesh while only one card has been made for the lone delegate from Mizoram. The AICC and CWC members will have white colour cards, while PCC delegates from different States will have cards printed in blue, orange, green and off-white colours.

On Thursday, security personnel were making a thorough cross-checking of the data furnished by each State to see whether it tallies with the one printed on the ID cards before affixing the security hologram. Twenty computers are being installed at entry points to scan the ID cards.
