KOCHI: Off-spinner Vinay Kumar took five wickets as DTDC (Bangalore) beat RDT (Ananthapur) by 56 runs and entered the semifinals of the 19th KRL all-India cricket tournament at Ambalamugal on Thursday. For the Bangalore side, it was its second victory in the four-team Pool `B'. Also entering the semifinals were AMCC (Chennai, Pool B) and Pool `A' topper Kochi Refineries Limited. The young Kerala Ranji star Abhishek Hegde was the toast of host KRL, scoring an unbeaten 84 (64 b, 1x6, 13x4) helping the home side drub last year's runner-up Eagles (Chennai) by nine wickets. The scores: (at KRL Oval, Ambalamugal): DTDC, Bangalore 214 for eight in 30 overs (Manoj Sai 49, Asgar Pasha 51) bt RDT, Ananthapur 158 in 29 overs (Sanjeev Reddy 40, Vinay Kumar five for 34); Eagles, Chennai 154 for eight in 30 oves (P. Rajesh 47, K.L. Midhun four for 44) lost to KRL 155 for one in 21.4 overs (Abhishek Hegde 84 n.o., Vipinlal 49). At Palace Oval, Tripunithura: AMCC, Chennai 231 for seven in 30 overs (Devanand 78, Thalaivan 74, S. Sarma four for 44) bt Kids CC, Thiruvananthapuram 209 in 27 overs (Rohan Prem 57, M.A. Sathish Kumar four for 51); Jolly Rovers, Perinthalmanna 83 in 22.1 overs lost to BDL, Hyderabad 87 for three in 11.2 overs.
