Pedestrian, cyclist killed in accidents on GST Road

TAMBARAM:
Two persons were killed in separate accidents on Grand Southern Trunk Road in Pallavaram on Wednesday, according to official sources.
In the first accident, 35-year-old Jithendran, who was riding a bicycle, was hit by a water tanker.
He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
The victim, a resident of Union Carbide Colony of Old Pallavaram was on his way to the Cargo Complex of the Chennai airport where he was employed as a casual labourer.
The accident took place at 2 p.m.
Hit and run
Later in the day, 65-year-old Chokkalingam was killed on the spot when he was knocked down by an unknown vehicle in a hit and run accident.
He was walking on the edge of the road, when the vehicle hit him and sped away.
A resident of Tirusoolam, Chokkalingam was returning to his house from a factory in Avadi, where he was employed as a security guard, police said.
