CHENNAI: AIMS Education and The Hindu Education Plus are organising a free model All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) at six centres in the city on January 29.

The three-hour-long examinations will be held at Adyar, Anna Nagar, Mylapore, Kilpauk, Tambaram and Virugambakkam between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

A special feature is the discussion session to be held at Vani Mahal on G.N. Chetty Road on February 12 between 9.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. The session would have experts discussing answers to difficult questions, useful short cuts, techniques of answering tricky questions and time management. The results of the model examination would be announced and those with high marks honoured the same day.

AIEEE enables candidates to get admission into any of the prestigious 18 national institutes of technology and deemed universities all over the country. AIEEE, introduced in 2002, consists of two papers. Paper 1 is relevant for engineering/technology and paper 2 for architecture/planning.

Every year, more than 12,000 candidates from Tamil Nadu appear for the examination. This year, the number is tipped to cross 30,000. Candidates, even the Tamil Nadu State Board students, can perform well if they follow the changes in the examination pattern as well as concentrate on the relevant subjects.

Those interested can register before January 27 either through their school heads or approach the office of AIMS Education at No. 463, Anna Salai, L.R. Swami Building, Teynampet, to collect the hall tickets. For details, contact 044-24337997, 24364954.
