Court comes to students' rescue
Staff Reporter
Kochi:
The Kerala High Court, on Thursday, directed that Pooja Anna Raju, a student of Little Flower High School, Koothattukulam, be allowed to participate in Bharatanatyam competitions in the State school Kalotsavam.
Justice K. Balakrishnan passed the directive on a writ petition filed by her against the appeal committee decision to reject her claim. According to her, Sarika S. Kumar had been illegally awarded first place in the Ernakulam revenue district school arts festival.
The court also allowed the plea of M.K. Rajeev, team manager, Rajiv Gandhi Memorial High School, Mokeri, for participating in Arabic drama competition. The team was refused first prize in the district-level festival on the ground that there were more than seven members.
