GCDA, other agencies asked to help boat owners
Staff Reporter
Kochi:
The Kerala High Court, on Thursday, observed that the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA), the Cochin Port Trust and other authorities concerned should take the initiative to provide facilities at Marine Drive for houseboat owners.
Justice K. Balakrishnan Nair made the observation while allowing a writ petition filed by boat owners against the demolition of a temporary boat jetty constructed by them.
The court directed the trust to inspect boat jetties and, if they complied with safety norms, grant permission for retaining them.
The permission should be subject to conditions laid down by the law.
