MADURAI: The Zoology Association of Yadava College organised an awareness programme on brain and spinal injury on January 17 to mark the traffic safety week.

A. Parasuraman, neurosurgeon, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, spoke about traumatic brain in case of mishaps, poor road infrastructure and talking on cell phones while drivingHe emphasised the importance of `golden hour', the first one hour after accident, and the appropriate medical attention to be given immediately to the victim.
