Three sentenced to life for dowry death

BANGALORE:
The 5th Fast Track Court on Thursday convicted and sentenced to life a man, his mother and sister for murdering his wife for not bringing more dowry. The court also fined them Rs. 40,000 each. According to the charge sheet filed by the police in the court, Keshava Murthy married Dhanalakshmi alias Siddamma. Murthy, his mother Manchamma and sister Gangamma used to harass Dhanalakshmi to bring more dowry.
On October 18, 2001, Murthy doused Dhanalakshmi with kerosene and set her on fire at his house on the "instructions" of his mother and sister.
Dhanalakshmi died at a hospital on October 21, 2001, the charge sheet said.
