HSS youth festival begins on Friday

Government Brennen HSS is main venue

KOZHIKODE: The Ninth State Higher Secondary Youth Festival will be held in Thalassery from January 27 to 30. Government Brennen Higher Secondary School will be the main venue of the festival.

Education Minister E.T. Mohammed Basheer will formally inaugurate the festival.

The MLAs and MPs from the district and other prominent personalities will be present on the occasion.

Organising committee publicity convener Joshy Antony in a press release here on Friday said that the Thalassery Municipal Stadium would be one of the main venues of the festival.

The other venues would be Sharada Krishna Iyer Auditorium, B.E.M.P. High School, St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School and Government Brennen B.Ed. Training College.

The kitchen for preparing food for the participants and escorting teachers and others is being set up at Government Girls Higher Secondary School.

The registration of participants will be on from 6 a.m., on January 27.

The festival flag will be hoisted at 10 a.m. on the day.

The colourful pageantry planned as part of the festival will commence at 3 p.m., from the municipal stadium, and take the route via Lawrence Road, New bus stand, O.V. Road and M.G. Road.

A meeting held for chalking out details for the conduct of the festival here was presided by Higher Secondary Director James Joseph.

General convener K.K. Mohammed, joint general conveners T.K. Abdu Rehman, P.Yashoda, Mr. Antony, among others, were present.

The festival media centre will start functioning from January 26.
