JAIPUR: Special schools for tribal children, modelled after public schools, would start functioning in Rajasthan soon. State Governor Pratibha Patil, who has initiated the concept, said here that at least two schools of the kind would start functioning soon in the Tribal Sub Plan Area in South Rajasthan. Ms.Patil, during her first formal interaction with media persons after taking over as Governor, said on Thursday that she had held consultations with the State and Central governments on setting up "public schools" for tribal children. "Someone pointed out to me the existence of Eklavya schools for tribal children but I told them that I want something better. The Tribal Public Schools are going to be a bit more than the Eklavya Schools," she said.
