10 injured in blast near Guwahati refinery
Guwahati:
At least ten persons including six personnel of Central Industrial Security Force were injured when United Liberation Front of Asom militants triggered a blast at the main entrance of Guwahati Refinery on Friday night.
Police said the blast suspected to have been triggered by exploding a grenade was lobbed near the refinery gate at 6:45 p.m.
The injured were rushed to the nearby Indian Oil Corporation Hospital.
The blast came close on the heels of the ULFA serving a demand note of Rs. 500 crore to the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and the police alerting officials of the other oil companies in the State of a possible attack by the militant outfit.
A meeting of the offshore oil security coordination committee is scheduled for Saturday.
