Dacoit gang busted

Sickles, valuables and cash recovered

ANANTAPUR : The Itukalapalli circle police busted a five-member dacoit gang near Ammavaripeta crossroads on the Anantapur-Narpala road in the district on Friday. Two sickles, a cell phone, a gold ring, two wristwatches and some cash were seized from their possession.

Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Jain told newsmen that the gang members were nabbed following a tip-off that they were preparing to commit a dacoity at Ammavaripeta crossroads.

The arrested were: K.C. Venkatesulu, S. Dhanunjaya, D. Gopal, B. Chennaiah, and K.C. Murthy, all belonging to Nyamaddela village in Chennekothapalli mandal.

Two nabbed at Sullurpet

Nellore staff reporters writes: The police in Sullurpet nabbed two inter-State dacoits on Thursday.

They were reportedly involved in more than 70 offences in four States.

The arrested persons -- Anand and Ch. Babu - were members of a gang that is operating from Villivakkam of Chennai as its base.
