Plan to develop industries in Kudligi, Sandur

    BELLARY: The District Industries Centre, Bellary, has prepared a Rs. 45.84-crore action plan for development of industries in Kudligi and Sandur taluks under the Kaigarika Vikas Yojana. Kudligi and Sandur taluks are among the 40 taluks in the State identified as "industrially most backward" by the Dr. D.M. Nanjundappa Committee on Redressal of Regional Imbalance.

    In order to ensure industrial development in these taluks, the State Government had come out with the Kaigarika Vikas Yojana besides constituting a task force at the State and district-level to prepare the action plan.

    Approval

    The plan has been prepared and forwarded to the State Government for its approval and will be implemented in five years. Acquisition of land, development of necessary infrastructure, construction of new sheds and repair of existing ones, training, cluster development and entrepreneurship development programmes will be undertaken under the programme, according to Arvind Srivastav, Deputy Commissioner and chairman of the District-level Task Force Committee.

    Land acquisition

    The action plan envisages to acquire around 100 acres of land in Kudligi taluk (50 acres each around Kudligi and Kottur towns) at a cost of Rs. 10 crores and develop around 300 acres of land around Jindal Steel Plant at Toranagal, which has already been acquired.

    The plan also aims at establishing autonagar at Krishnapur at an estimated cost of Rs. 20.80 crores, he told presspersons here on Thursday.

    Allocation of funds

    The allocation of funds for other programmes under the scheme is: construction of sheds (Rs. 3.62 crores), infrastructure development (Rs. 99 lakhs), cluster development (Rs. 2.06 crores), entrepreneurship development (Rs. 30 lakhs) and investment/subsidies (Rs. 8.08 crores).

    Mr. Srivastav said the construction of showrooms at Belary and Sandur for marketing of products, buildings for conducting training and procurement of LCD projectors and laptops will be taken up as part of infrastructure development.

    On completion of the preliminary works, the plans expects private sector investment to the tune of Rs. 32.37 crores- Rs. 16.06 crores in Kudligi and Rs. 16.31 crores in Sandur taluk in the next five years.
