VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh Girijan Cooperative Corporation and Maharastra State Cooperative Tribal Development Corporation (Nashik) would work together and exchange their expertise in various areas. A high-power delegation from Maharastra, headed by the Minister for Tribal Development (Maharastra) Vijay Kumar Gavit, visited GCC and studied its activities here. The team expressed satisfaction at the functioning of the GCC in marketing the forest produce and generating employment to the landless poor. The delegation invited GCC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director A. Vidya Sagar to visit Nashik to work out the modalities for exploring the possibility of exporting gum directly, better marketing of soyabean powder and contacting RUDA (Rajasthan) for securing better marketing avenues. Maharastra Tribal Development Corporation Managing Director Vilas Thakur and 25 other directors were in the delegation.
Ties snapped
IFFCO-Tokio General Insurance Company (ITGI) has disassociated itself with KRIBHCO (Krishak Bharathi Cooperative Limited) in respect of the sale in the Vizag region of the latter's Sankat Haran insurance policy offering personal accident insurance to farmers. As per the policy, farmers buying a 25 kg.-bag fertiliser of KRIBHCO and Indian Potash brands would be covered to the extent of Rs.4,000 from accidents caused by external violence or visible means. The premium for this policy used to be paid by KRIBHCO as a value addition to the purchase. An ITGI release said on Friday that it would not henceforth have any liability on the purchase of KRIBHCO fertiliser. However, ITGI's Sankat Haran policy would continue to be available for the products of IFFCO and Indian Potash Limited.
