NEW DELHI: A day after Municipal Commissioner A. K. Nigam was given more than a week's time to prepare the status report, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday alleged that files related to the properties of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit were missing and the ruling Congress leadership and Mr. Nigam were to be blamed for it.
"The Congress leaders along with Mr. Nigam are busy shielding Ms. Dikshit, her MP son Sandeep Dikshit and other relatives who were also guilty of having done illegal constructions in their properties. And this is the reason why Mr. Nigam failed to present the status report
Addressing a press conference, Mr. Arya said the MCD was deliberately delaying the presentation of status report so that it could manipulate and make changes in its original files to save the Congress leaders.
By not acting against its leaders who have done unauthorised constructions, the MCD was guilty of contempt of court, he added, and demanded a high-level inquiry into the whole episode.
