CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers (TNPL) has reported a three-fold rise in its net profit at Rs. 14.65 crore for the three months ended December 31, 2005 against Rs. 3.49 crore in the year-ago period. The turnover was Rs. 207.95 crore against Rs. 188.47 crore. Production during the quarter under reference rose by 17 per cent to 59,264 tonnes. The capacity utilisation was 103 per cent. In the nine months ended December 31, 2005 the turnover was Rs. 586.45 crore and the net profit after tax Rs. 45.95 crore. The company has started implementing the mill development plan (MDP) at a capital outlay of Rs. 565 crore.
