Abhijith, Vinod sparkle

KOCHI: Abhijith Menon's unbeaten 80 and Vinod Kumar's four-wicket haul marked Chittilappilly Cricket Academy's seven-wicket victory over MYCA (Mattancherry) in the 25th Coromandel Cement cricket tournament at the Nehru Stadium here on Saturday.

In another match, host Ernakulam CC `A' defeated Sharon by five wickets. Both Chittilappilly and Ernakulam entered the pre-quarterfinals.

The scores: Sharon CC, Ernakulam 150 in 29.4 overs (Geethish 73, Ajay Jayakumar four for 31) lost to Ernakulam CC `A' 152 for five in 25 overs (Sareesh 59 n.o.); MYCA, Mattancherry 182 for eight in 30 overs (Suresh 53, Vinod Kumar four for 23) lost to Chittilappilly CA, Thrissur 185 for three in 25 overs (Abhijith Menon 80 n.o.). — Principal Correspondent
