Case transferred to fast-track court

NEW DELHI: Nearly 13 years after the high profile murder case of an East Delhi businessman involving underworld don Babloo Srivastava as an accused, a city court on Saturday, as per the Delhi High Court's order, transferred the case to a fast-track court (FTC) to ensure speedy disposal.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) S C Malik, in compliance of the High Court's direction that cases which are pending for more than seven years would be transferred to FTC, sent the Lalit Suneja murder case, which is pending since 1992, to Special ASJ Rajendra Kumar.

The ASJ Kumar fixed the case on January 31, for recording of prosecution evidence.

Earlier, the court, on July 22, 2005 had allowed re-opening of recording of evidence after the prosecution submitted that six key-witnesses including five senior police officials were inadvertently left out.
