COIMBATORE: Mettuppalayam Judicial Magistrate P.R. Ramakrishnan on Friday directed counsel appearing for a film unit that produced the Tamil movie, "Sivakasi," to produce the stay orders pronounced by the Madras High Court in a defamation case. M. Rahamathullah, a legal practitioner of Mettuppalayam, moved the Mettuppalayam Judicial Magistrate Court seeking action against the actors Vijay and Asin, director Perarasu and producer A.M. Rathnam under Section 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code for "objectionable" dialogues in the movie. He contended that the defamatory dialogues and scenes portraying advocates in bad light was an insult to the legal profession and the judiciary. A counsel appeared before the magistrate and sought time for the four respondents for appearing before the court in person. The respondents have obtained an interim injunction from the Madras High Court.
`Produce copies'
Mr. Rahamathullah said on Friday that the respondents were yet to produce copies of the interim injunction order. Neither the petitioner nor the court had received the copies of the order till date. Counsel appearing for the respondents sought more time. The magistrate, posting further proceedings to January 27, ordered that the respondents produce the copies before the court on that day.
