CHENNAI: Sarvani Sangeetha Sabha Trust, which launched its five-day 20th anniversary celebrations and Thyagaraja Aradhana on Saturday at the Music Academy, was a role model for youngsters in performing arts, said N. Murali, president of Music Academy.

Inaugurating the festival, Mr. Murali said he was amazed by the Sabha's work which "was founded by a group of dedicated women and started as an organisation to spot young talent and a platform for young talented artistes" who went on to make a career in the performing arts.

He lauded the Sabha for reviving concerts by youngsters and commended its work, which was sustained by the munificence of benefactors as the organisation did not charge entry fee. He promised the Trust that the bond forged with the Music Academy, then led by his predecessor, T.T. Vasu, would be strengthened.

"Rapport very important"

Vyjayanthimala Bali, who inaugurated the festival, said the Sabha and the Trust were jointly doing fruitful service. "We have talented performers and rasikas. The rapport between artists and rasikas is very important."
