KOCHI : Hundreds of students of Teachers' Training Institute (TTI) are offering a unique service at the State School Kalotsavam — serving food to thousands of participants. From breakfast to dinner, they work hard to serve the items prepared by Pazhayidam Mohanan Namboodiri.

About 200 students are on duty during a session. They have won the hearts of participants, teachers, and organisers by doing their job perfectly.

Treat for music buffs

A packed crowd at the St.Albert's college auditorium provided some inspiring notes to the participants of Ganamela competition. The venue was filled with music lovers right from the morning. Teachers and students from distant places turned up at the venue before time. Team managers were busy giving a helping hand to participants to shift various musical instruments from buses to the backstage. Fourteen teams competed for top honours in the event. Three teams came with appeals from the district-level.

Books donated

The Kalotsavam venue witnessed something which was not exactly related to the festival. But it was a significant step in improving the schools in the State. E.T. Mohammed Basheer, Minister for Education, accepted books worth Rs.20 lakhs donated by DC Books and DC Kizh akkemuri Foundation. This lot was accepted as part of the renovation of school libraries scheme taken up by the Department of Education. ``We were planning to donate different titles. Later, we decided to donate one thesaurus each for schools in the State," said Ravi DC, who heads DC Books. Thesaurus is being brought out only in Malayalam and Hindi among Indian languages, making it another rarity.
