Cable technology centre to be opened

Coimbatore: The PSG College of Technology (PSG Tech) and Lapp Kable of Germany will jointly open a Centre for Excellence in Cable Technology on the college campus, here on Wednesday.

A release said that the centre would come up at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Diploma students, graduates and post-graduates of the college would receive training in design, selection and testing of cables, using the resources at the centre.

Besides this, the centre could be used by industries involved in machine tools, automotives, instrumentation, computers and electrical installation.

Andreas Lapp, Chairman, Lapp Group, would inaugurate the centre in the presence of G. Rangasamy, Managing Trustee; C. R. Swaminathan, Chief Executive, PSG Institutions; and R. Rudramoorthy, Principal, PSG Tech.

Lapp Group was one of the leading manufacturers of cables, wires, cable accessories, cable handling machines, communication technology gadgets and connectors.
