SCENE OF DESTRUCTION: The scene at Pappali Hall, where a fracas broke out following the announcement of the results for Kolkkali at the State School Kalotsavam on Sunday.
KOCHI: The Venue II of the State Schools Kalotsavam at Pappali Hall near St. Albert's College witnessed chaotic scenes following a brawl by a team of participants. As the results of Kolkkali competitions were announced, the team from GM HSS, Koyilandy, Kozhikode district, turned violent. They alleged that the judgement was unfair. The participants toppled the chairs and tables of the judges. The audience, including students and teachers, fled. Finally, the police arrived and brought the situation under control. Suraj from Kozhikode was nabbed by the police from the scene and taken to the Central Police Station. No case has been charged against him so far, according to the police. The first prize in Kuchipudi was won by PK MM HSS, Edarikkode, Malappuram district. The school has been bagging the first prize in Kolkkali for nine years consecutively. Although the school failed to win the competition last year it met with success this year. The Koyilandy school secured an `A' grade. As many as 18 teams participated in the State-level competitions. Four teams arrived with the support of appeals. Eight teams secured `A' grade and seven secured `B' grade.
