RSS, BJP to hold brainstorming session

Neena Vyas

Meet expected to address ideological course of BJP

NEW DELHI: A brainstorming session the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party will be held in Jaipur on January 24 and 25. A similar session was held in Bhopal last year.

Since the two top RSS leaders, Sarsanghchalak K.S. Sudarshan and Sarkaryawah Mohan Bhagwat, will be present it appears that the discussion will veer around to the direction the BJP intends to take and the "course correction" needed to bring the party closer to the RSS' ideological roots.

Besides Mr. Rajnath Singh, other senior leaders expected to attend the meet are Murli Manohar Joshi, Pramod Mahajan, Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu and Sushma Swaraj.

Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled States are also expected to participate.

Another RSS leader expected to attend the meeting is S. Gurumurthy who is closely connected to the Swadeshi Jagran Manch.

VHP not to attend

However, other affiliates of the RSS, such as the Vishwa Hindu Parishad have not been invited, suggesting that the focus will be on the affairs of the BJP.

VHP leader Giriraj Kishore told The Hindu that the VHP was not going to the meet.
