HUBLI: Lalita Mangalappa Lamani of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was elected president of the Kalghatgi Taluk Panchayat on Saturday. Nilakantagowda Patil of the BJP was elected Vice-President of the taluk panchayat with the support of the Janata Party and the Congress. Mr. Patil and an Independent member Fakkiresh Nesarekar were in the fray for the post. Mr. Patil secured nine votes and Mr. Nesarekar got four votes. Mr. Patil succeeded in getting the support of all three Janata Party members and two Congress members, while Mr. Nesarekar got the support of two Janata Dal (Secular) members and one Congress member. Of the 13 members in the panchayat, BJP has four members, Congress (3), Janata Party (3), Janata Dal (Secular) (2) and Independent (1).
