HUBLI: C. Sitaram, journalist, has called upon cartoonists to follow the three-point scheme of study, implementation and adaptation to hone their skills. He was speaking at the valedictory function of the three-day State-level workshop for cartoonists organised by the Karnataka Madhyama Academy, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Karnatak University, the Information Department and the Karnataka Cartoonists Association here on Sunday.
Knowledge
Mr. Sitaram underscored the need for cartoonists to read extensively to widen their horizons. "They should have a good knowledge of geography and history and closely follow the movements and gestures of important persons," he said. He said cartoons should possess a subtle sensibility, and referred to the works of well-known cartoonist R.K. Laxman.
`Educate society'
Noted cartoonist V.G. Narendra said cartoons have the ability to educate society. And the cartoonists have the ability of sowing the seed of reformation in the society, he said.
Humour magazines
Presiding over the function, Karnataka Madhyama Academy president V.N. Subbarao underscored the need to bring out humour magazines in Kannada.
