KOLKATA: Delhi snatched a vital 41-run first innings lead over Mumbai in the final of the four-day Vijay Merchant Trophy (under-17) at the JU (Salt Lake Campus) here on Sunday. Chasing Mumbai's first innings total of 248, Delhi was all out for 289. At stumps on the third day, Mumbai was 69 for three for an overall lead of 110 with seven wickets in hand. Varun Sood (53), Tejeshvi Yadav (89 n.o.) and Virat Kohli (56) ensured Delhi 's lead. In fact, Tejeshvi, son of former Bihar Chief Minister, Laloo Prasad Yadav, and No.11 Ishan Sharma added 49 runs for the last wicket to deny Mumbai the lead.
The scores: Mumbai 248 & 69 for three in 22 overs (Rohan Bhonsle 34 batting). Delhi 289 in 125.5 overs (Varun Sood 53, Tejeshvi Yadav 89 n.o., Virat Kohli 56; R. Sufiyan four for 88, I. Abdulla three for 78). Special Correspondent
