Inzamam out of second Test; doubtful for third

FAISALABAD: Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq on Sunday ruled himself out from further participation in the second cricket Test and also admitted that he was also a doubtful starter for the third match starting in Karachi from Saturday.

Inzamam-ul-Haq, talking to PTI in the team hotel, said he had been in tremendous pain at the moment and the exact nature of the injury would only be known after the Medical reports are received later in the day.

``I am out of this Test match and don't see any role for myself. But as regards the third Test, I have my fingers crossed. I am determined to play in this series but I will only know when I see the MRI reports,'' Inzamam said.

He added: ``The initial diagnosis is that I have a muscular pain in the left side of my back and if the diagnosis is correct, then it will take four to five days to recover. ``But if the injury is something like the one I had in Australia (in 2004-2005), then the rest is up to five weeks.''

Inzamam said he was experiencing severe pain while bending and stretching, and that he had picked up the problem while batting on the first day of the ongoing Test. ``Since the body was warm, I did not feel much but once I returned to the dressing room, I knew then and there that it was not a minor injury." — PTI
