Vijayawada
Staff Reporter
VIJAYAWADA: For some, it was a run for fun, for some others, it was all about autographs and photographs. With the participation of some 20,000 people, the run clearly outdid all other big events in the city in the recent past. Realising the pressure for fusion of old world wisdom and contemporary dynamism, members of STRIVE (Strategic Team for Reinforcement and Improvement of Vijayawada's Ecology), who organised it, put their best foot forward and set the ball rolling for a happier and blossoming Vijayawada. No squealing of honking vehicles or the nerve-racking ordeal of the bellowing traffic, the roads were cleared for the sea of humanity that emerged from all corners to join the inspiring run. It was a star-studded event that drew fans from across the city. In the programme that followed the run, actress Laya's, MissIndia runner-up Gadde Sindhura, pop singer Smita and actor Raja took part . The arrival of Raghava Lawrence, choreographer, drew a huge applause from the crowd. Obliging them, he performed the popular Veena bit pictured on megastar Chiranjeevi in the film `Indra'. Sandeep, the up-and-coming playback singer had the youngsters rocking.
