Farmers told not to raise second crop

Efforts on to get more water and save first crop in Nagarjunasagar ayacut

    ONGOLE: District Collector B. Udaya Lakshmi has asked farmers not to raise second crop paddy under Nagarjunasagar project and suffer losses.

    Addressing a meeting of irrigation and agricultural officials on Sunday, she said that efforts were being made to get more water and save the first crop paddy in Nagarjunasagar ayacut but some farmers were using the opportunity to raise the second crop in Tripurantakam and Darsi areas. She said such farmers would face problems later.

    Officials said they were receiving only 8,000 cusecs of water as against the requirement of 10,000 cusecs.
