KADAPA: Congress hoodwinked minorities by issuing orders extending 5 per cent reservations, which did not stand legal scrutiny, Telugu Desam Party State Minority Cell chairman V.S. Ameer Babu has alleged. Congress resorted to vote bank politics and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy showered promises to fulfil his goal to become Chief Minister, but did not keep them, he alleged at a TDP minority sadassu at Kalakshetram here on Saturday night. Former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu strived for people's welfare without politicking for votes, he claimed. Minorities should realise the dubious stand of Congress, he said. Polytechnics, engineering, medical and B.Ed. colleges for minorities were started during TDP rule, district TDP president R. Ramesh Kumar Reddy said. It granted funds for development of mosques and shadikhanas, he recalled. TDP State secretary Imtiaz Ahmed said the minority must remember that their welfare was ensured during Chandrababu Naidu's rule. Muslims should introspect on which party strived for their welfare, he added. Mr. Ameer Babu was felicitated at the sadassu. Former Minister S. Saraswathi, former MLA P. Brahmaiah and party leaders M. Linga Reddy, Chand Basha, Parveen Banu and others took part.
