Lucknow: A doctor kidnapped on Saturday night from Aliganj area of the U.P. Capital was rescued on Sunday by the police from the Bhavakheda village here. As many as eight people have been arrested. A police constable sustained minor injuries during operation. Police said here on Sunday Dr Jaideep Sarkar was rescued from the Bhavakheda village under Malihabad police circle, on the city outskirts. Seven Kidnppers -- Mohd Sajid, Rashid Khan, Jagjivan, Sarvesh Gupta, Ramakant Bhatnagar, Romil Srivastava, Sajivan Lal -- and a person providing shelter to the in were arrested from the village. Dr Sarkar told the police that kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore from his family. The police also seized a countrymade revolver, live ammunition, five sharp edged weapons, besides the car used in the crime. -- UNI
