CHENNAI: Dental curriculum should focus on building a good relationship between the dentist and the patient said Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, at a function organised on Sunday to felicitate Padmabhushan awardee Anil Kohli. Good patient-doctor relationship would provide the basis for great patient satisfaction. It will also "lead to decreased dentist and patient anxiety and more successful treatment of disease," the Governor said. Modern medicine, based on scientific facts and research, had led to better understanding of oral diseases, he added. Mr. Barnala was addressing a gathering of dentists at Balaji International Dental, Craniofacial Hospital and Research Institute in Teynampet on Sunday. Dr. Kohli, who was also awarded the B.C. Roy national award and the D. Litt. (Honoris Causa) by Annamalai University last year, is the president of the Dental Council of India. S.G. Damle, president-elect of Indian Dental Association also spoke.
