A right move by UPA government It is indeed amusing to see the Sangh Parivar and BJP objecting to the series of measures that the UPA Government is taking to restore to Muslims the primacy in India. The preservation of Muslim character of the Aligarh Muslim University, the exemption of minority institutions from providing reservations for some castes among Hindus, giving authority to Minority Education Commission etc., and reservations for Muslims in education and employment are all right steps. The British gave weighted representation for Muslims in the Central Legislative Assembly in Delhi under the Government of India Act of 1935. The Sangh Parivar and like-minded parties should not indulge in actions and writings that arouse communal feelings. T. Mani Chowdary Karkhana Increase frequency of bus services This is to bring to the notice of RTC authorities that at present bus numbers 5R and 8R are plying only from Hakimpet depot. Introducing buses from Charminar and Mehdipatnam depots is requested. During peak hours, buses coming from Charminar are overcrowded and late due to traffic jams. I request the RTC authorities to introduce separate buses on these routes. Diversion of buses to public sector companies like Midhani, ECIL, NFC, BDL etc. during the peak hours is also causing severe hardship to commuters. I request the authorities to ply at least mini-buses from JBS via Bata, Bible house, Ranigunj, and again from Ranigunj, Bible house and Bata to JBS. S. Mahalakshmi Old Alwal `These gimmicks are nothing new' It is amusing to read about the TDP leader's novel protest on the pavement in front of his house. There seems to be a communication gap between MCH authorities and the TDP leader which can be easily sorted out across the table that to when senior MCH officials are repeatedly telling that the TDP leader is extremely co-operative. Of late it has become regular feature where politicians of both the Congress and the TDP throwing allegations on each other on petty issues and thus deviating from solving the common man's problems. As far as taking bath and breakfast on footpath is concerned these are not at all new to a common citizen as in India, 60 per cent of the population are below poverty line and dwell in slums and on footpaths. These gimmicks by our netas are nothing new to the people as they have seen enough of these in our country. P.V. Prasad Rao Yellareddyguda Issue notification From time-to-time the State Government declares its intention to rehabilitate differently abled persons in suitable jobs. Unfortunately, the Hyderabad District Collector who has to create these opportunities in the district is unable to act because the Government has not issued any notification so far. Meanwhile, the last date for making the appointments is drawing near. Government's intention thus remains a pious, insincere intention. Will the authorities kindly issue the notification without further delay on which the Collector may make the appointments? S. Nagarajan Kukatpally
