Thiruvananthapuram: About 750 families in the low-lying areas of Adarsh Nagar, Jeevan Nagar, Pottakuzhy, Thekkumoodu and TPJ Road are on the warpath against the delay in completing the work on a sewerage network. A pressnote issued by the Adarsh Nagar Residents Association said the project to extend the sewer lines to these areas was bogged down for the last five years owing to the failure to complete a small portion of the network. It said the authorities had refused to revise the rates for the contract after the cost exceeded the estimate. The pressnote said the residents in the affected areas were forced to spend a huge sum on cleaning up septic tanks during the monsoon period. The association is planning an agitation to press its demand to complete the work.
