NEW DELHI: The Delhi police in coordination with Central agencies have chalked out an elaborate security cover for Saudi King Abdullah who will be the chief guest at this year's Republic Day Parade here. This has been done in view of the possible threats from terrorist organisations. According to a senior official, King Abdullah, who arrives here in the Capital on January 25, will be provided security equivalent to that of President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Though intelligence agencies are yet to give a final briefing to the police about the security cordon, King Abdullah's own security men armed with sophisticated weapons will accompany him wherever he goes during his official visit.
Intelligence agencies
Intelligence agencies and the Special Cell of the Delhi police have been working on inputs regarding threats from terrorist outfits during the Republic Day Parade. While the police are keeping a close watch on the activities of all known terrorist outfits capable of carrying out attacks outside Jammu and Kashmir, they are concentrating more on the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants as they are more active these days.
Militants
Also, inputs collected in the past have suggested that the LeT has strong links with Al-Qaeda terrorists and there is a strong possibility that the outfit could be used to carry out an attack in the Capital and other parts of the country.
