Final verdict today on Bihar House dissolution

Legal Correspondent

New Delhi: The Supreme Court will give its final verdict on Tuesday in the "Bihar dissolution case." It passed a brief order on October 7, 2005, declaring as unconstitutional the May 23, 2005 Presidential proclamation dissolving the Bihar Assembly.

On Tuesday the Bench is expected to come out with the detailed reasons why it held unconstitutional the dissolution. The Centre had recommended dissolution on the basis of two reports sent by Governor Buta Singh on April 27, 2005 and May 21, 2005. These reports, which were made public, became a subject matter of the litigation in a batch of petitions questioning the legality of the proclamation.
