HYDERABAD: Maharashtra bagged a double winning the men's and women's team events in the 35th senior National and inter-State carrom championship in Pune on Monday, according to information received here.
The results: Team championship: Men: Final: Maharashtra bt UP 3-0 (Sanjay Mande bt Irfat Ali 25-8, 25-0; Mohd Sajid bt Imran Khan 25-21, 25-0; Mahendra Tambe & Jitendra Kale bt Mohd Oves & Amit Kumar 25-9, 25-1). Third place: Hyderabad bt Vidarbha 3-0. Women: Final: Maharashtra bt Hyderabad 2-1 (Ayesha Mohd bt K. Suvarna 25-24, 25-3; Manoj Tantra lost to Nagajyothi 18-25, 25-15, 25-24; Minal Lele & Priti Bhatnagar bt K. Swarupa Rani & Ch. Srinica 25-20, 7-25, 25-17). Third place: Tamil Nadu bt Bihar 3-0. Inter-institution: team events: Final: Women: LIC bt RBI 2-1 Third place: BSB bt BSNL 3-0. Men: Final: PSPB bt Indian Airlines 2-1 Third place: BSB bt RBI 2-1.
