VISAKHAPATNAM: The City Police Commissionerate and the Armed Reserve (AR) Complex near Barracks will be demolished and a new building will come up soon at the same place with a corporate look. Proposals sent to the office of the Director-General of Police in Hyderabad are now under consideration. The outlay for the ground-plus-three-floor complex with state-of-the art facilities is also being finalised. The proposal was mooted to have a new building due to the dilapidated condition of some buildings in the commissionerate located over 3.6 acres and the AR complex over 15.5 acres and due to the road widening at Barracks. The Police Department has to surrender a part of the land to facilitate road widening. Commissioner of Police V.S.K. Kaumudi said on Monday that a vertical complex would come up at the old building with good setbacks facing the main road. ``The proposed complex will have a conference hall, the control room, reception, library, canteen and rest rooms on each floor and a separate section for the CLUES team,'' he said. The commissionerate had already started a welfare complex and hospital for the police personnel and their families, he revealed.
