Ram Kumar stuns Vinod

MADURAI: Unseeded Ram Kumar of Tamil Nadu caused an upset by defeating second seed Vinod Gowda of Karnataka 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, in the boys U-14 singles first round in the AITA ranking championship series and TNTA State-ranking tennis tournament conducted by Union Club here on Monday.

GK Motors is champion

GK Motors Finance Club emerged winner, defeating Young Challengers Hockey Club 7-0 for its fourth win, in the five-team Madurai regional hockey league on Monday. It thus qualified for the Tamil Nadu State hockey league for the TNHA-SDAT Champion Cup to be held in Chennai.

Liberation HC (Dindigul) finished runner-up with three victories and a loss, while Young Challengers came third with two wins and two losses.

The results: GK Motors Finance Club 7 (Vaman 2, Radhakrishnan, Sathyaseelan, John Paul, Richard Raj and Anand) beat Young Challengers HC 0; Red Rose HC 1 (Agnal) bt Youth SC 0.
