NEW DELHI: A large number of power consumers in the Capital will now be able to pay their bills conveniently by just walking to a nearly cheque drop box installed in their colony or housing society as the power distribution company BSES has drawn up plans to launch "Project Nikat'' in the coming days.
Queues
Under the plan, which would cover both BSES Yamuna Power Limited and BSES Rajdhani Power Limited customers, the days of spending hours in billing queues would be past. As BSES will install drop boxes in various societies and colonies in its licensed area, customers will be able to deposit the cheques comfortably. The cheque drop boxes, BSES sources said, would be aesthetically designed and weatherproof. Made of fibreglass, they will provide daily clearance on all working days.
New initiative
The power company said it had written to various residents' welfare associations, intimating them about the new initiative of installing the boxes in a convenient and safe place within the societies or colonies and has so far received a positive response from 160 RWAs.
Option
The facility of drop boxes, the sources said, would be in addition to the 400 easy bill outlets, 33 division office cash counter, 200 cash centres, 200 round-the-clock Skypack drop boxes, and two mobile collection
