Delhi Congress crowd hits Hyderabad sans invitations

Staff Reporter

`There was a scramble to get identity cards made for gaining entry'

  • `Attempts were to get an audience with the senior AICC leaders or Union Ministers'
  • `There were also rumours about a ``fraudulent list'' of co-opted delegates'

NEW DELHI: Controversy seems to dog the Delhi Congress even in Hyderabad. Even as the entire party was busy with the AICC plenary session there, quite a few of the irresistible Congressmen from Delhi who were not even members of the Delhi team or delegates from the Capital's quota converged at the venue of the session in large numbers without invitations.

Some of the delegates and Congress leaders who returned here from Hyderabad early due to prior engagements said such was the rush of Congressmen from Delhi that the AICC session seemed more of a Delhi session. There were Congress leaders of various categories who had nothing to do with the session trying to gain entry into the venue.

Not only this, there were also rumours about how a ```fraudulent list'' of AICC co-opted delegates was doing the rounds to enable some of the ``uninvited guests'' to gain entry into the venue where senior Congress leaders including Congress president Sonia Gandhi were present.

``It was a huge crowd from Delhi and Haryana. Anybody and everybody from Delhi Congress was at Hyderabad without an invite.

There was a scramble to get identity cards made for gaining entry into the venue. ," said one delegate
