Rupee reacts against $

MUMBAI: The rupee on Tuesday weakened against the U.S. currency due to renewed heavy dollar demand from oil corporates and importers amid a slowdown in foreign portfolio investment inflows and halted a three session smart rally at the interbank foreign exchange market here.

Closing at 44.25/26 a dollar, a four paise decline from Monday's close of 44.20/21, the rupee started on a steady note at 44.19/21 and showed signs of strengthening following a persistent weak dollar overseas. — PTI
