MFs allowed to invest in gold

MUMBAI: The Securities and Exchange Board of India has amended its regulations to allow mutual funds to invest in gold and gold related instruments.

According to the amended regulations called Securities and Exchange Board of India (Mutual Funds) (Amendment) Regulations, 2006, a Gold Exchange Traded Fund shall be subject to certain investment restrictions.
