ANANTAPUR: The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest sit-in in front of the chambers of Vice-Chancellor of Sri Krishnadevaraya University near here on Tuesday, demanding removal of employees of the Physical Education Department alleging that they were ineligible. Students led by Ch. Rami Reddy explained to Vice-Chancellor A. Rama Rao that course coordinator Johnson and sports and games coordinator Sivappa were on deputation to the Physical Education Department from junior and degree colleges, respectively. Besides, they were ineligible to hold such posts, since they were taken on deputation three years ago. The NSUI leaders alleged corruption in the process of selection of university students for inter-university, inter-college and inter-district competitions. As a result, talented students were being denied participation in the competitions and the university had not won any competition under their guidance so far. Besides, the two employees on deputation were also resorting to financial irregularities, the NSUI leaders charged. The V-C assured the students that he would take up the issue in the next Executive Council meeting. Rammohan Reddy, Narayana Reddy, Konda Reddy, Amarnath Reddy, Shankar and Sivananda also participated.
