Haryana seeks more power

Officials meet Power Trading Corporation chief

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Power Secretary, R.N. Prashar, and the Managing Director of Haryana Power Generation Corporation, Jyoti Arora, recently met the chairman-cum-managing director of the Power Trading Corporation, T.N. Thakur, in New Delhi and discussed measures to improve the power supply position in the State on a long term basis.

An official spokesman said here on Tuesday that Mr.Prashar and Ms.Arora pleaded that the maximum allocation of power from Tripura Gas-based Power Project, Karchan Wangto Hydro Electric Power Project, West Seti Hydro Project and Teesta Hydro Electric Project be given to Haryana.

He added that MoUs were also signed with the Power Trading Corporation for 200 MW from Tripura Gas-based Power Project, 200 MW from Karchan Wangtoo Hydro Electric Power Project, 150 MW from West Seti Hydro Project and 300 MW from Teesta Hydro Electric Project. These projects were likely to be commissioned during 2008-09 to 2010-11.
