Lecture in memory of noted lawyer

JAIPUR: The Bar Council of Rajasthan, in association with the Rajasthan Education Trust, will organise a memorial law lecture here on January 29 to commemorate the centenary year of noted lawyer and educationist, the late Chiranjilal Agarwal. Justice Dalveer Bhandari, Judge of the Supreme Court, will deliver the lecture, while Justice N.M. Kasliwal, former Judge of Supreme Court, will preside over.

Mr. Agarwal was a member of the State Bar Council and was the founder Managing Trustee of the Bar Council of India Trust, which was the force behind the establishment of first National Law University in Bangalore. The chairman of the centenary celebration committee and former Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, Justice V.S. Dave, told reporters here on Tuesday that the Rajasthan Education Trust, established by Mr. Agarwal, had disbursed scholarships amounting to Rs. 44.20 lakhs, medical assistance worth Rs. 43.31 lakhs and financial assistance of Rs. 27.40 lakhs.
